Computer Donations Needed
At long last we have found a deserving charity for COMPUTER DONATIONS. Many of our customers are looking for a venue for good usable computers when they upgrade and we have finally found one!
Communities in Schools of Cape Fear (CISCF) is dedicated to facilitating the connecton between community resources and the public schools of New Hanover and Pender Counties for the purposes of helping young people learn, stay in school and prepare for life. CISCF works in partnership with public schools to identify and connect students, many in jeopardy of dropping out, with the community resources they need to stay engaged in school. CISCF offers programs in area schools and brings community resources, services, parents and volunteers together to help meet students’ needs. With mentoring and tutoring support, students can concentrate on learning and educators can concentrate on TEACHING! see link http://www.ciscapefear.org/
We contacted CIS a few weeks ago and they have given us a ‘wish list’ of items that includes Windows XP Desktops or better, flat panel monitors and working wireless laptops.
If anyone has older (working) computers and would like to donate them, you can drop them off at our shop location: 3816 Oleander Drive. If the computer has a simple problem we will fix it and we will also clear the hard drive of personal data. Please do not bring non-working (does not power on) computers or computers that are over 5 years old. If you have questions, please email me.
Off Site Backup – Why we use a Data Recovery Company
The biggest hurdle in using an off-site backup system is getting the data back – HOW you want it, and WHEN you want it. Otherwise, what is the point? Your Computer Friends found this interesting article about two of the popular companies offering off-site backup and further illustrates why we DON’T use them! Our off-site back up solution is provided by a vendor who does Data Recovery. Who else is going to understand the need for Data HOW AND WHEN you need it! Customer support is also top notch! Call us if you need an off-site Data Encrypted backup plan for your Small Business.
