Virus Protection

When using a search engine to find what you’re looking for you may sometimes get results that are not what your looking for and harmful to you’re computer. The best way to avoid this is by downloading McAfee Site Advisor.

Site Advisor will display a symbol next to your search results when using Google, Yahoo, MSN and other popular search engines. When the program displays a red X you can hover your mouse over the red X to see why that site has received a bad rating. This can range from bad downloads, spyware, viruses to the number of spammy E-mails you will receive if you enter your e-mail address on the site.

This is one of the biggest steps you can take to protect yourself from harmful sites on the internet as site advisor also has a toolbar that will display a color based on the safety rating for the page you’re on regardless of what you searched to get there.

Most importantly Site Advisor will automatically redirects your browser away from sites known to cause browser exploits. Sites like this take advantage of weak points in your web browser to take control of your system. Once this happens it is a relentless assault on your PC attempting to infect it with more spyware and even viruses.
